14ERGenre: rock Location: Houston, TX Visits: 2078 | Bio/Info: 14ER (Fourteener) is an indie-rock band from Houston, TX. They have captivated audiences with energetic live shows since August of 2001. Texas State University's college radio station The Other Side proclaimed 14ER as "one of the best live shows in 2001." Their self-released discs include the EP Granite and the Elevation/1:50 A.M. CD single. The music is dynamic, incorporating catchy melodies, odd time signatures, and rhythmic syncopation. While drawing influences from Fugazi, Hum, and Radiohead, the music is original in and of itself.
14ER's diversity and creativity can be attributed to the multifaceted background of its members. Nick Houston, the vocalist/bassist, is originally from Houston, TX. Before joining 14ER, he was very active in various Texas music scenes while attending Sam Houston State University. The guitarist Andy Seifert (ex. Flowery Avenues), who joined the band in early 2004, is a classically trained bassist/cellist. Andy Beaudoin is a drummer that has performed with many acclaimed groups including The Statesmen, who’s music has been described by Public News as a "shattering yet catchy kind of rock that is not easily forgotten" (Issue #709, pg. 11). Andy Beaudoin endorses Ayotte Drums and has a Master's Degree in Jazz Studies from the New England Conservatory of Music. David Beaudoin, a former member, is now attending law school. When starting the band, 14ER simply wanted to write innovative, sincere music.
In terms of the future, 14ER will continue to create, play, and spread their music
