Bio/Info: Blowing Trees has become one of San Antonio's biggest alternative bands over the past two years. Officially formed in early 2003, Blowing Trees is the product of a long-term project originally conceived by lead singer/acoustic/songwriter, Chris Maddin. With longtime influences from greats such as Bob Dylan, and The Beatles, Maddin has developed a unique songwriting style that incorporates poetic lyrics accompanied by dramatic and timeless progressions. Drew Pierce(drums) had been in many projects with Chris throughout high school, and with the additions of long term friend Jered Stephens(lead guitar) in late 2002, and R.E. Scovanne in early 2003, the true Blowing Trees sound began to develop. Influenced heavily by bands such as Radiohead, Wilco, Coldplay, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Trees try to stay creative while maintaining an honest sound that mimics no one. Beautifully deep and amazingly catchy songs fueled by creatively powerful guitars and driving bass lines create a sound so original it seems to transcend multiple musical genres. Blowing Trees, who pride themselves on their live shows, has packed clubs in their hometown of San Antonio, TX for the past year and a half. Playing venues such as Rebar, The Revolution room, the National Lampoons Stage during spring break 2005 in South Padre Island, the Corpus Christi Bayfest in 2004, Lucys in San Marcus, Jacks patio bar and grill, and opening for bands like Flickerstick, they are proving themselves true pros at the art of performing. With their debut album "If You Come Along We'll See You" almost finished, Blowing Trees is bound for national recognition in a time when "new" music is hard to find. Blowing Trees have just recorded their debut album: If you come along we'll see you. They will be playing Saturday 8/6 at REBAR at midnight. They will be playing some shows in California mid-august with the band: THICK AS THIEVES.
