SilverLined TragedyGenre: rock Location: San Antonio, TX Visits: 2854 | Bio/Info: With a blend of an aggresive range of atmospheric post-hardcore driven by layered melodies and painfully honest lyrics, Silverlined Tragedy is a band fueled by an undeniably sensitive (and oh so pissed off) passion for letting themselves go in a sonic blur of guitars and drums. Simply put, SLT has a depth to its sound that varies from the dreamy guitars of Tiffany Saenz to the frenetic rhythms of drummer Aaron Mireles and bassist Raul Flores, all contributing in perfect precision to the chillingly beautiful singing of Tina Kim. While the bond amongst the members is strong, it’s the unharnessed, violent emotion and energy behind the band that has established SLT as the double-edged sword of the South Texas music scene: gracefully captivating, but with a tragically dark underside.
Sinc e the band came together in early 2002, SLT has played every venue from small-town house parties to city festivals, and always with a sense of passion for playing the best set possible. The music has a meaning to each member of the group, a product of honest emotion and artistic creativity. “Each of us have our own goal, from getting a message across about freedom, anger and the hardships of reality to just physically getting the crowd moving. We hope to create a new sound, previously unheard of through each members distinctly different musical backgrounds.” With a diverse group of influences including The Deftones, Glassjaw, Mineral, A Perfect Circle, and At the Drive-In, SLT appeals to fans in the hardcore, alternative, emo, and indie scenes.
SLT is currently in the process of recording their demo with Charlie Vela (.thedecember Drive) due out in mid-summer 2004, and plan on releasing an EP later in the year. The group will be relocating to San Antonio, Texas in July of 2004 and soon thereafter be touring throughout Texas. With a few years already behind them, and a precedent for sticking together, the group should be making music well into the future. Why? “Because we love it. It's a way to express ourselves and maybe even what others would love to say and display but do not know how, or the means. It allows us to spit out every feeling of hatred and love through the encrypted notes of every song, all which hold some sort of universal meaning, which we hope everyone can relate to. And in relation to our primitive instincts, we just love to kick some butt. It's a great escape.” In the end, Silverlined Tragedy doesn’t claim to be revolutionizing the world of music. The band makes music for themselves, and if you connect with the music in any way, you’re welcome to be a part of it all.
